CBD-rich genetics

These three strains are bred so that CBD dominates and THC stays low. That is a genetic property, not a growing technique: you cannot turn a high-THC plant into a CBD plant with feeding or light. It has to be bred in, and stabilising it takes years of selection.

The point is a plant with cannabis’s therapeutic profile and little of its intoxicating one. People choose CBD-rich varieties for daytime use, for a gentler effect, or because they want to grow their own without the high.

The three strains

• CBD Charlotte’s Angel — sativa, low THC, eleven weeks, XL yield. The photoperiod version, and the highest-yielding of the three.
• CBD Auto Charlotte’s Angel — sativa, low THC, thirteen weeks from seed, L yield. Autoflowering, compact.
• CBD Auto Blackberry Kush — indica, low THC, thirteen weeks from seed, XL yield. Purple-tinged, dense, and the indica of the group.

All three come from Dutch Passion’s CBD Rich family, developed specifically to stabilise the cannabinoid ratio rather than simply to reduce THC.

What to expect

Phenotype variation is normal here. Charlotte’s Angel in particular throws a noticeable range: some plants come out compact and fast with dense top buds, others stretch considerably with a longer flowering period and an open canopy. That variation is a documented characteristic of the line, not a fault in a particular pack, and it is a consequence of how recently these ratios were stabilised compared with decades-old THC varieties.

Flowering is slower. Eleven to thirteen weeks against eight for the fastest THC strains in the catalogue. In Thailand that longer run means more time exposed to humidity, so airflow and — for an outdoor grow — a rain shelter matter more with these than with a fast-finishing hybrid.

Harvest timing differs. Trichome colour is the usual guide for THC potency, but for a CBD-rich plant the cannabinoid ratio is reasonably stable across the ripening window, so there is less penalty for harvesting slightly early. If humidity is climbing, take the crop.
